History
St. Brigid’s Cemetery is the principal Catholic burial ground associated with St. Brigid’s Church in Oldcastle. The cemetery developed alongside the growth of the parish and the construction of the present neo-Gothic church, which was built between 1899 and 1904 to replace an earlier Catholic church dating from around 1815. The church was designed by architect William Henry Byrne and became a prominent landmark in the town.
